Head of Import (For a Local Group of Companies)

Responsibilities

Lead and manage all import operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
Oversee import documentation, customs clearance, shipping arrangements, and logistics coordination.
Ensure compliance with import regulations, customs procedures, and relevant government requirements.
Manage relationships with overseas suppliers, shipping agents, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
Monitor import costs, shipping schedules, and supplier performance to optimize operational efficiency.
Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, finance, and sales teams to ensure smooth import processes.
Manage import operations for FMCG chemical products, ensuring proper handling, documentation, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Minimum 8–10 years of relevant import experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Strong experience in import operations, customs clearance, international shipping, and trade documentation.
Experience in the FMCG industry, particularly chemical products, is highly preferred.
Good knowledge of import regulations, customs procedures, permits, and chemical product compliance requirements.
Strong negotiation, leadership, problem-solving, and supplier management skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, good English communication skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
